Over the past couple weeks there have been a lot of tasks that have kept us busy and hopefully continuing to answer why God has put us here.
The small medical assistance program that the Good News Class helped us establish a couple years ago is working wonders. One of the girls in the village who was part of the original sewing groups needed a prenatal exam and an ultrasound. Linda was able to schedule the appointment and get her to the clinic and home. All is well for the scheduled birth in early February.
A lady in a neighboring village who is a stroke victim was in serious need of a wheelchair. We were able to shop the hospitals and found one to meet her need. Nothing but joy as she able to rest comfortably in the chair and have at least minimal mobility.
The sewing groups in both Los Tambos and Buena Vista are busy with preparations to do projects for Valentine’s Day – both for their personal use as well as some for sale. Both groups have had new ladies join this year. Buena Vista continues to do a large portion of their work for Hope For Life pregnancy center and Los Tambos is getting ready to begin uniform fabrication in the next week. A school census has been taken and measuring for the uniforms will take place this next week. There will be close to 100 uniforms again this year.
Last week a delivery of approximately 116 blankets and 40 diaper bags was made to Hope for Life.
CMTS of Reading, PA continues to do miracles for Threads of Hope. A 40 foot container shipped from Reading arrived last week. Along with supplies for several ministies in the area, they included another 40 bags of fabric for Threads of Hope. This brings the total to close to 120 bags of valuable fabric they have transported to Belize for us.
Many of the families in Los Tambos rely on wood for cooking. Any time there is an available supply, we pitch in to help get it to these folks. Last Saturday with help of my able bodied crew we delivered three truckloads of wood. Only pay required is ice cream when we are finished.
Hard to believe that we are 6 weeks in to our trip this year. There are lots of things in progress and many more on the to-do list before we come home. We want to thank you all for your prayers and look forward to continuing the path God has set in front of us.
Thank you for your prayers and continue to pray for us.
