We have tried to stay busy the past couple weeks. With each of the sewing groups meeting twice each week along with some home school projects and general repairs, we have been able to occupy most of our time.
Some of the ladies are not able to attend classes at the centers for various reasons, so every effort is made to include them in the programs and projects as much as possible with them working from home. We currently have ladies working from their homes in Belmopan, Esperanza and Unitedville. Fridays and Saturdays are usually set aside to visit these girls and work with them for a few hours. Here is Suzanne working in her home – –
A new church in Buena Vista was without any window treatments and also had an issue with acoustics. Included in the fabric sent from the States was enough of a specific fabric to allow the girls to make panels to hang on the church windows along with a few ceiling banners. Not only did this dress up the church but the acoustics were greatly improved.
Last year we built a kitchen in Buena Vista that was to be used to support a government feeding program. It was such a success that the kitchen was renovated to double its original size and now provides adequate space for other feeding programs sponsored by local churches.
This will be the eighth year that Fountain City Presbyterian Church has provided uniforms for the children in Los Tambos. Since the beginning, the girls in Los Tambos Threads of Hope have done the fabrication. This past week we began the process once again. Measurements were taken for 95 kids, the fabric was ordered and the fabrication process has begun. Four new students have joined the Los Tambos group and they are all excited about getting up to speed and being able to contribute to this year’s uniform project.
Several more projects are in store for the next couple weeks and we will be sure to provide updates on the progress on all of them.
Thank you again for your continued prayerful support. It means a lot!!!!
Blessings to all!!!
