The past couple of weeks can best be described as “Never a Dull Moment”. The girls continue to work on projects in the sewing groups and maintenance and repairs keep moving forward.
In addition to the sewing activities this past couple weeks we have also been dealing with the addition of a new little one in Los Tambos! One of the girls from the sewing group was in the final stages of her pregnancy around the first of February. Being attended to by a mid-wife from the Spanish Lookout Clinic, it was determined that she had health issues that needed to be addressed. Along with the pregnancy there were concerns for the baby requiring several ultrasounds. . . . Finally, after 42 weeks baby Rudy was born! Along with him came his own issues that required immediate hospitalization. Three days of care and Mom and Baby Rudy are home and all are doing fine!
Every year FCPC teams bring shorts and dresses made by Grandma’s PJ’s. It’s always a fun mission visit homes to do the distribution of these pieces. This year was no exception. During the time Grogan and Biddle were here, visits were made to several of the homes and the looks on those kids faces tells it all!! Great afternoon with the guys . . .
Having lunch at Los Tambos School with the kids is always a special event. The meal last week included rice-n-beans, stewed chicken and a drink. A good time was had by all and the kids enjoyed the meal. As the kids passed through the line – not a single meal was served without a Thank You and the usual big smile!!
The Hope For Life Pregnancy Center continues to be a big part of the sewing efforts of both Los Tambos and Buena Vista. Several of the ladies who have passed through the Hope For life Program feel the need to repay the consideration they received. This is Merci and Elsa – two of these ladies. They take the ½ hour bus ride to within a couple miles of the sewing center and then hopefully hitch a ride the rest of the way. They both feel helping sew robes and bags is just a small way to repay for what they have received through Hope For Life.
During Valentine’s Week the ladies were given a free day to create whatever Valentine’s project they wanted to work on. It’s amazing what they came up with in red and white for their projects. Table runners and pillow shams seemed to be the favored projects.
A couple weeks ago it was decided that the drain field at the Hope For Life TINY HOUSES was in serious need of rework. A plan was put in motion that required a hole to be dug 48”x48”x48”. To get this accomplished I enlisted to of my favorite guys. Told them they could take as long as necessary – maybe 2 or 3 days after school and work. 3 hours later they had the hole dug and the soaker gravel was in the hole. I just hope they are still my friends the next time I need a hole dug!!! Jorge and his Dad are the best!!
Time is Flying by – – – Only 4 more weeks til we head home – – –
Keep us and all the folks in Belize in your prayers – especially the new LITTLE RUDY!!!
