Vacation Bible School will also offer three nights of adult fellowship, scripture, and fun activities to help us know our church friends better. The theme for the second night is Benevolence where we will study and put into action Love, Compassion, and Joy. We will end with packing emergency food bags benefiting our community through the Fountain City Ministry Center.
Help us prepare to show love and compassion to our neighbors facing food insecurity through this project. Suggested items to donate include individual serving sizes of crackers, vienna sausages, pudding, granola bars, chips, raisins, bottled water, etc. Anything that is individual serving size, easy to open (no can opener needed), and reasonably nutritious will be useful. Our hope is you will experience joy in your participation while bringing joy to the recipients of these food bags.
Michelle Myers, Director of Fountain City Ministry Center, recently shared that they keep ziploc bags filled with various easy to open, ready-to-eat food products. They hand these out to families and individuals who visit the center in need of food that requires no refrigeration or prepartion. Michelle shared that they need these to always be in stock. They frequently use them to help hungry children and adults when the FCMC is closed.
Our VBS project on Monday, July 14 is to put together as many bags that we have supplies. We are asking for donations to be brought to the church by July 6. This will give us time to determine what we will need to purchase. You can bring your donations to church on Sundays and throughout the week during office hours. If you are an online shopper, you can have it delivered directly to the church.
Contact Darlene Miller (darlene.h.miller@gmail.com) or Susan Espiritu (susanespiritu86@gmail.com) if you have any questions. We hope you will participate in donation of items and coming to VBS to help us put these bags together. Let’s put “Benevolence” into practice for our community friends. Thank you!
