When Family Promise needs are presented, you and our partner churches, Northside Christian and Crossroads Presbyterian, rally to serve homeless families. It is interesting to note that FCPC planted the seeds for Crossroads Presbyterian many years ago. God knew then that we would serve hand in hand as brothers and sisters in Christ today. This week a total of 56 different volunteers have been performing 69 different jobs. These volunteers lovingly have been providing encouragement, kindness, food, and shelter to 6 parents and 5 children in 3 families. With rising rent and shortage of affordable housing, it that is not an easy task to get back into housing that they can call home. Thankfully, volunteers give them hope that their housing goals can be realized.
Family Promise’s small staff is very effective in helping them. One dad and a working mom with a precious 2-year-old son have been on a waiting list for an apartment for since the beginning of this year. They could not be preparing to move without patience, a voucher to help with rent, and the case management services offered by Family Promise. Another family includes an employed dad, an expectant mom, and a sweet 1-year-old child. The remaining self-employed dad and mom have 3 beautiful children aged 1, 4, and 7. We are grateful to extend hospitality to these families, so they are not forced to sleep in their cars. Please pray that they all get into housing soon. If you would like to get involved with this mission when we serve families again from October 21-28, mark your calendar and contact Tere McDonough at 865-406-6417; ttmcdono@gmail.com.
