Stepping Stones

By The Rev. Janna Preston

If you were alive 25 years ago today, you probably remember where you were when you heard about the tragedies that happened in several parts of our country. Planes being turned into weapons, in New York City, Washington D.C. and in Shanksville, PA. That was an awful day. It was very scary. It is even hard to put those feelings into words, let alone process it. I’m still not sure we really have. But one thing that I lean on is knowing that God was with us, still is, and always will be.

In Sunday’s sermon I asked you to sit with the scripture we had, and “Consider the meaning that the passage (Matthew 18:15-20) has for you. Imagine you are sitting with the Lord Jesus Christ having a conversation about what you have read.” How do you think the conversation would go? What would you ask him? Or tell him? Talk to him this week, and listen for him. Let him love you and let him into your thoughts and your concerns about this passage. How did that go, especially against the backdrop of the September 11th anniversary this week?

I pray you felt Jesus’ power and love. It is so powerful it is strong enough to heal wounds that are so deep and scary. And we have his promise that when two or three of us are gathered, his power is with us. May that give us strength and reassurance regarding any wound you or we may have. Please, call or email me to set up a time if you would like to talk about any concerns or what you experienced with your conversation with Jesus. I’m happy to listen.

Praying you have a good week, and we hope you can be with us in worship this Sunday!

Blessings and peace,

Janna
