Stepping Stones

Oct 2, 2026

By The Rev. Janna Preston

We have the privilege of coming to the Lord‘s table together this Sunday with not only our congregation, but with Christians around the world. World communion Sunday began in a Presbyterian church and grew out of the Division of Stewardship at Shadyside Presbyterian Church PC(USA) in Pennsylvania. It was their attempt to bring churches together in a service of Christian unity—in which everyone might receive both inspiration and information, and above all, to know how important the Church of Jesus Christ is, and how each congregation is interconnected one with another.”

Feeling interconnected with other Christians and having the privilege of partaking of the bread and cup, have both been wonderful stepping stones for me. They have offered me an understanding of forgiveness, oneness with Christ, the communion of saints, and unity with brothers and sisters around the globe. Join us this Sunday as ordinary elements bring such extraordinary meaning to our faith. Thanks be to God.

I pray that you will be able to join us this Sunday. And invite a friend.

Blessings and peace,

Janna
