By Joe and Linda Schnorr
Since we arrived 2 weeks ago we have spent most of our time getting the house settled, saying HI to everyone and meeting with the sewing groups and setting schedules to meet. The sewing groups have agreed to celebrate the holidays with family and wait until after Christmas to start classes. That’s Ok – it gives us the chance to do the “HOLIDAY” thing too! . . . Christmas here is true Christmas without Santa.
The kids in the village have never had the opportunity to bake or decorate cookies – so with that opportunity knocking Linda has had three different groups to our house to bake and decorate cookies.
The girls in the Buena Vista sewing group felt they would like to do a community service project and decided on gift packages for 21 elderly folks in the community. They fabricated large shopping bags and filled them with rice, beans, sugar, flour and fabricated quilts. The packages were distributed Sunday after church to some very appreciative folks.
After returning from the holiday everyone is excited to get started on new sewing project over the next few months . . . More updates as we move forward.
We have been invited to spend Christmas Eve with a family from Belize and Christmas day with CMTS Ministries – the folks who have transported all the fabric to Belize.
We continue to be grateful for your thoughts and prayers.
